Under development is a LED growing environment allowing the replacement of wasteful HPS, HID and Fluorescent artificial lighting systems. Artificial lights usually suffer from poor light or emit too much heat which dries out the soil. One of the major problems with growing plants from seed is ensuring the seeds are kept moist while germinating. The heat radiated by conventional lighting systems results in accelerated evaporation. Covering the plants leads to poor airflow often resulting in algae and fungus growth. LED lighting emits only light of specific wavelengths and does not radiate heat. The heat generated at the back of the fixture can be easily dissipated through heat sink cooling and thus be kept away from the plant. This creates an opportunity to control the growing environment in a much more efficient way than by other means.
